Associate Consultants

Joy Kelshall

Joy Kelshall retired from the airline industry in February 1999, after over 21 years of service.

She acquired a wealth of knowledge in Customer Service and Training through a diversity of experience within the field of aviation, and in study. She has experience not only in writing, planning and conducting both practical and theoretical training programmes, but also in designing evaluation forms and writing Home Studies and Examinations for both cabin and flight crews.

She operated as part of the Executive and Senior Management Team and gained considerable knowledge and experience from interfacing with both the Regional and International Aviation Authorities. She was also responsible for dealing and negotiating with the Union and this increased her knowledge in Industrial Relations.

She successfully obtained bother her Certificates in Applied Training  and Development and Business Management from the Institute of Business (I.O.B.) , University of the West Indies.

She has worked as an Associate Trainer with PMSL since 1995. She facilitates training in Effective Supervision, Interviewing Techniques, Professional Telephone Techniques, Handling Difficult Customers, Customer Services and other self – development programmes.


Beverley Demas

Beverly C. Demas is an Associate Consultant at PMSL.  She has over thirteen years of experience in the development of the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, nine of which were gained at the Business Development Company Limited (formerly Small Business Development Company).

Equally qualified and experienced in Finance and Training, she is a certified train-the-trainer practitioner for the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the British Columbia Institute for Studies in International Trade (BCISIT) and has conducted training on behalf of the former locally and regionally. She has served on statutory committees of Eastern Credit Union and is a consultant and advisor to several private and non-governmental organizations.  Currently, she is working as a Consultant with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago on programs involving the training and re-training of persons inclusive of the rehabilitation of prison inmates.

Beverly holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Boston University, USA and is presently completing her Diploma in Public Relations from Cipriani College of Labour & Cooperative Studies, Trinidad.


Felix Reyes

Mr. Reyes has over 30 years experience in the Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations field. His career began at CTC Electronics Ltd.  where he was appointed Section Head, Payroll & Personnel Records of the Company and was responsible for the administration of the weekly payroll and Security. One year later, he was promoted to the Company’s Personnel Manager position and assumed the responsibility for Labour Negotiations with the Transport and Industrial Workers Trade Union and Administration of the Collective Agreement in conjunction with the Company’s consultant.

In 1979 he joined the Alcoa Steamship Co. Inc as their Personnel Manager with the responsibility for all HR, PR, HSE and IR issues and saw him heavily involved in the first of many negotiations with the Seamen and Waterfront Workers Trade Union. Mr Reyes represented the Company during the Certification process of the monthly paid staff and worked closely with the Company’s lawyers on legal and Industrial Relations matters.

After 3 years, Mr. Reyes was appointed Manager Personnel and Administration which included the accountability for the Transfer Station at Tembladora. He successfully negotiated with Corporate ALCOA, to refurbish the Transfer Station and a “pay as you go” medical plan that afforded retirees of the Company medical benefits which was paid for whilst they were active.

November 1996 saw Mr. Reyes’ joining Trinmar as their Human Resource Officer, IR which was, at the time, jointly owned by Texaco and Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago. At Trinmar, Mr. Reyes was involved in the first of many negotiations with the Oilfield Workers Trade Union and successfully negotiated Collective Agreements with the Estate Police Association and settled, with mutual agreement, a major industrial accident.

It was based on Mr. Reyes’ competence in this area that he was given the assignment to design and develop an Industrial Relations department for the Company. This task was successful and he was subsequently appointed Industrial Relations Team Manager. During his tenure in this position, Trinmar enjoyed a record of having no IR matters at the Ministry of Labour and the Industrial Court.

Throughout his career, Mr. Reyes has attended many Human Resource and Industrial Relations programs, and is a certified member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, Benefits and Compensation Management, and, Retirement and Health Care Plans. He has also held senior positions at the Employer’s Consultative Association, and has been an Associate Member of the Registration, Recognition, and Certification Board.

As an Associate Consultant with PMSL, Mr. Reyes provides consultation on Industrial Relations issues to PMSL’s clients.


Gerard Pinard

Gerard Emile Pinard is 55 years old and the proud father of two daughters and two sons.

Gerard attended Presentation College in San Fernando during the ‘golden era’ of Brother Jerome Kelly where he studied for his G.C.E. “O” Levels and “A” Levels, graduating in 1972 with 10 “O” Level subjects and 3 “A” Level subjects, after which he and his family migrated to Canada.

Gerard graduated in 1977 from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Chemical Engineering, and immediately returned home to Trinidad seeking employment.

Gerard’s first job was with the Trinidad and Tobago Oil Company Limited (Trintoc, now Petrotrin) where he joined as a Chemical Engineer in July 1977. In 1980 he made a career switch to Human Resources, still at the oil company, and completed a Diploma in Personnel and Industrial Relations at Cranfield University in the UK in 1982.

In 1990 Gerard resigned from Trintoc and joined the Angostura Group of Companies as Personnel and Administrative Services Manager and was subsequently appointed Group Executive Manager – Human Resources and Corporate Public Relations in 1994.

In April 2000 Gerard left Angostura to join Guardian Holdings Limited as Group Vice President – Corporate Resources, a position he held for 8 years until October 2007 when he joined the Ansa McAl Group as Deputy Managing Director of its Media Division. He later accepted a position of Chief Executive Officer at All Media Projects Limited (AMPLE) which he held until December 2008 at which time he made the decision to fulfill his own destiny by becoming his own boss and starting and leading the management consultancy firm Zatopek Solutions Inc.

Gerard has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Employers’ Consultative Association (ECA) since 1992 and served as Chairman of the ECA for 4 consecutive terms between 1998 and 2002.

Gerard has also represented the Employer community on several State Boards, including the National Insurance Board and the Trinidad & Tobago Mortgage Finance Company, and has been selected to serve on several national committees including the Cabinet appointed Committee to establish a Tripartite Social and Economic Compact (1998 to 2000), the Cabinet appointed Committee to make Recommendations for the Improvement of the Institutions Responsible for the Resolution of Trade Disputes (1997 to 1998), the Cabinet appointed ILO 144 Committee (1996 to 1998) and the Standing Tripartite Committee on Labour Legislation (1995 to 1998) .

On the private sector side, Gerard has also served as a Director of Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited, Guardian Life Limited (Jamaica) and West Indies Alliance Insurance Limited (Jamaica) and is currently a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Guardian Life Wild Life Fund.

Gerard has also served as a Director of the Shipping Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited from 1986 to 1992, a Director of Women’s World Banking (T&T) Limited from 1992 to 1999 and a Director of Kids In Need of Direction (KIND) from 1998 to 2000.

Gerard also currently serves as a Director of the Government Human Resource Services Company Limited and as a Nominated Member of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board. His most recent appointments are as a member of the Salaries Review Commission and a member of the Ministry of Labour Industrial Relations Advisory Committee.

He was also selected in May 2009 as a Member of the Committee appointed to carry out negotiations with the West Indies Players Association on behalf of the West Indies Cricket Board in relation to the implementation of a new Memorandum of Understanding and Collective Bargaining Agreement.  Gerard was also elected in May 2009 for a 2 year term as First Vice President of the Caribbean Employers’ Confederation.

Gerard now works as an Industrial Relations Consultant with PMSL and provides advice and consultation to its’ many clients. In his free time, Gerard enjoys digital photography, nature adventures, fishing, canary breeding, philately and fine wines.
