The Pass III
Dear PMSL:
My company is looking for a way of screening job applicants for honest behavior on the job. Do such tests exist locally?
PMSL's Response:
Yes, they do exist. There is a screening tool call the PASS III that assesses “risky” attitudes in job applicants, such as attitudes towards integrity, work ethic, reliability and drug and alcohol use. It is based on the premise that attitudes predict behavior, a concept that has borne out well when applied in employment settings. PMSL recently added the PASS III to its range of psychometric assessments because it is:
- Relevant – specifically developed for use in employment screening
- Convenient – available in paper-and-pencil or online versions
- Quick – only 10 to 15 minutes required to complete and results are available almost immediately
- Easy to integrate into the selection process - the report provides follow-up questions that may be asked in the employment interview
- Economical – the cost per survey is about half the cost of alternatives such as confessional “honesty tests” that require applicants to admit to prior wrongdoing
- Well researched – the PASS III has been in use for just over a decade but the original version was released in 1970. Over the years, research results have repeatedly supported the reliability and validity of the instrument.
