Managing the Retrenchment and Severance Benefits Act

A thoroughgoing examination   of the Retrenchment and Severance Benefits Act and its implications for workers and employers

Objective of Programme:

To enable managers to understand their obligations under the Act and to correctly calculate workers’ entitlements.

Duration: One Day

Target Group:

Human Resource   personnel and those managers whose responsibility it is to calculate employee benefits and entitlements

Expected outcome: Participants will be able to:-

  • Understand the purpose and structure of the Retrenchment and Severance Benefits Act
  • Recognise the Obligations of employers under the Act
  • Calculate workers’ entitlements under the Act
  • Understand landmark judgments of the Industrial Court and the Privy Council relative to the Act
