Our approach to learning
PMSL’s progammes are designed for adults in the workplace. We aim to deliver programmes that have impact and in which learning is relevant, discovered, enjoyed and remembered.
We begin the process of programme design with a needs assessment interview. Some organisations conduct this assessment before coming to us, and others need our assistance to do this.
Creating a programme that pays off for both participants and the organisation requires programme design based on the identified and agreed-on learning goals, the organisation’s strategic direction, and adult learning theory.
The principles of adult learning imply that effective learning takes place when the programmes are experiential in nature and build on the learner’s own experiences. This is radically different from traditional classroom teaching or lecturing which emphasises a more didactic or academic approach.
Programme delivery is not the end of our relationship with you, the client. Evaluation of our programmes takes place at the end of the learning intervention by the participants on the spot, and later by their managers through feedback reports and follow-up sessions. The findings of the evaluations are expected to feed into and be discussed at quarterly or annual performance reviews. Changed behaviour occurs over time. And so, as part of our methodology, we will return and confer with you to assess the impact and relevance of our programmes.
