Self Validation And Career Guide For Young People

Many young people in Trinidad & Tobago are confused about what study choice to make, often at a very young age, because they do not know what they themselves are constitutionally best adapted for. Sometimes choosing a study stream or even a university course, not because it is the best suited to their personality, temperament and brain configurations but they follow a course because a parent or grandparent has chosen it for them. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't, but as the economy becomes more demanding it becomes harder to place people who are not committed to, and excited by, what they do. If you are doing something that is not consistent with your natural, built-in competencies (and everyone has them differently) it is very unlikely that you are going to be passionate, good at, or committed to what you do, whether it is at school or in a career.
PMSL is a Human Resource Management Consultancy firm and one of the things we do at work is executive and professional recruitment. For the past ten years we have been doing psychometric tests for managers and executives and these tests have been remarkably accurate predictors of performance on the job.
This includes people in mid-life wanting to do an EMBA or degree in IT and move to a new field, so they come to get a psychometric test to find out what their own competency/career mix is. We have the assistance of a Research Centre which specializes in Applied Cognitive Studies in the United States. This is all done on-line using their advanced technology, which over the ten years we have been associated with them, has continually grown and developed, it is now one of the most valuable and highly predictive executive recruitment tools that we use.
The Research Centre has now developed an instrument especially for young people between the ages of twelve and twenty-five which helps them to match their natural aptitudes to career and study choices. It reduces a lot of the stress and confusion that people face when trying to find a study and career path that will really suit the inbuilt, inborn competencies of the individual. It also saves considerable time and money, because even with GATE, putting someone through university is still a financial strain.
The test is done on-line and rated by the Research Centre in the USA which emails the results to PMSL where our Certified Consultants then do the analysis, prepare a report and present it to the person tested.
The cost for test, analysis, report and presentation is TT$3,000.00 payable in advance, that is, when the person to be tested provides us with their email address which we then send directly to the USA. This can be done by cheque, cash or credit card (an authorization form can be provided for the funds to be remitted, if there is difficulty coming to the office).
It takes about 3-4 days before the results come back to PMSL so that we can do the analysis. The estimated time for the entire process is approximately five days. Contact PMSL to get the process started.
